Avenida Paulista II
AVENIDA PAULISTA II
I love studying the avenues of the world and how passers-by, tourists, workers, and citizens interact with it. I spend weeks and weeks returning to those avenues, trying to capture its soul. Avenida Paulista is a very special place for me because it is the main avenue in my hometown, Sao Paulo. Every Sunday, the authorities close the space and it becomes a free playground for kids, younglings, and adults. It is one heck of a democratic place. At Paulista, all the tribes, all the voices, all the colors, all the genders, all the political parties are welcome and free. The glamour here is being yourself. Dancing to the many music styles being played live. Drinking and eating. Avenida Paulista could be called Avenida Diversity.
Said that, you are more than welcome to embark this ongoing project with me.
